Society of Industrial Realtors
The Society of Industrial Realtors
® (S.I.R.) was founded in 1941 in response to a request by
the U.S. War Department that a select group of real estate brokers
assist in the location of war production facilities. Following
the war, S.I.R. designees were instrumental in the identification
of production and distribution centers capable of meeting the
demands of the U.S. industrial production.
Today, members of the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors
® who hold the SIOR designation (Specialist, Industrial &
Office Real Estate) are the most skilled, ethical and respected
industry practitioners. These individuals provide essential brokerage
services, including consulting, negotiating, appraising and maximizing
investment property portfolios' performance. Society members,
with an average of 20 years experience in the commercial real
estate industry, meet rigid professional and ethical standards.
They must demonstrate proven marketing ability and knowledge of
the principles involved in the guidance and completion of real
estate transactions before joining the Society.
